Every year a group WestSlope Trout Unlimited Chapter anglers head to Reno, Nevada to fish for Lahontan cutthroat trout. This is stillwater (lake) fishing at its best and Pyramid Lake may very-well be the best trophy cutthroat trout fishery in the world right now.

This January I experienced an amazing trip to Chile at Magic Waters Patagonia Lodge. Chile, strikingly beautiful, reminded me of Montana, Alaska, western Washington State and even central California with multiple micro-climates giving us visual surprises around every corner.

After six years as your Chapter President, I’ve decided it’s time for me to step down and give others the opportunity to fulfill leadership roles and take the chapter to the next stage.

When my son, Jake, told me he was moving from Boston to Cleveland, I was not happy. No more striped bass, blue fish or false albacore fishing. But it turns out there is a bright silver lining...steelhead. 

This project, near the confluence of Bear Run and Miller Creeks, addresses large eroding banks, increases floodplain connectivity, improves aquatic habitat complexity, and facilitates the recovery of a native riparian community. 

Many people in this age of Kelly Galloup mega-streamers don't know is that sometimes a micro-streamer is just what the trout want.
