President's Message

Welcome to the WestSlope Chapter of Trout Unlimited. We are a Chapter that gets things done.
Although how we do things during Covid-19 will change. Traditionally, our membership meetings and annual Banquet and Auction have been the rallying points for our chapter. In 2020/2021 things will be different and we will be working our way to find ways to engage members and the public.

Our biggest challenge this year will be raising money to support conservation projects. Over the last
few years we have raised between $100,000 and $132,000 each year to fund conservation projects
and fly fishing education. The need has not changed so we are challenging ourselves, our members
and our supporters to come up with creative and fun ways to generate money to continue supporting projects that result in better fishing and a healthier environment.

But some things don’t change including our mission, how we accomplish it and the importance of
relationships.

WSCTU Mission Statement:
To conserve, protect and restore Missoula’s coldwater fisheries and their watersheds and to serve and expand the Missoula fly fishing community through outreach and programs to women, kids, students, and veterans so we can accomplish even more.

Accomplishing Our Mission:
The WSCTU accomplishes our mission through relationships with board members, chapter members, fly shops, local businesses, government agencies, conservation organizations and other partners. We raise money and put that to work in the Missoula area.

Building and Maintaining Relationships
We build and maintain relationships through board engagement, member programs, creating an
inclusive environment, welcoming new members and groups, creating value and sharing our
successes and challenges with other TU chapters in Montana and beyond.

In 2020, the Chapter contributed over $120,000 to fund a dozen conservation projects. Click here for all the details. If you have a project that you’d like WSCTU funding, please click here and fill out the form.

If you are not a member of Trout Unlimited, please join now at www.tu.org

Our annual banquet and auction is going virtual this year. It is scheduled for February 27, 2021 but
look for mini-raffles and auctions each month.

If you are interested in serving on the board, helping out with any of our events or donating a item for our auction, please contact me at
mark@makdirect.net or call 406-544-0703.

Thank you for your support of our organization and mission.

Best Regards,

Mark Kuipers, President
