The Stream Feed

The final product produced 26-acres of floodplain and wetlands, 5,000 feet of new Ninemile Creek channel with 65,000 willow cuttings placed. 

From June to November, the crew built an impressive 2.75-miles of new channel for Gilbert Creek and restored spawning and rearing habitat for bull trout, brown trout, and other fish. 

Thanks to the Clark Fork Coalition’s installation of the Lolo-Maclay fish screen in the fall of 2020 there are 10,000+ more trout swimming in Lolo Creek at the end of this year’s irrigation season. 

In October 2021, TU and partners completed a priority fish passage project on South Fork Lower Willow Creek to reconnect 14 miles of westslope cutthroat trout habitat and eliminate entrainment of fish into an irrigation ditch.

TU staff are ramping up fisheries conservation project work in the Flint Creek area.  During the 2021 field season, TU and partners implemented several fisheries improvement projects in the valley- some of which had been in development for years.

Marshall Creek is an important tributary to the Clark Fork River that hosts a strong population of migratory cutthroat and rainbow trout.

TU's Rock Creek Project Manager, Tess Scanlon has been hard at work restoring and conserving our favorite blue ribbon trout stream. Two huge projects have wrapped up and two more are underway!
